RESEARCH & PLANNING

     1. Qualitative Research Methodology

Qualitative research involves gathering and analyzing non-numerical data (text, video, or audio) to gain in-depth insights or generate new research ideas. Interviews were conducted to understand parents' ideas and preferences, informing the design of a low-fi prototype. Thematic analysis was employed to interpret interview results, providing flexibility and enabling the analysis of extensive data sets. This qualitative approach informed high-level requirements related to children's lifestyles during COVID-19, the need for social engagement, and expression of emotions. The low-fi prototype was refined based on parents' feedback gathered through qualitative research, facilitating further development.

     2. Practice-based Research Methodology

Practice-based research involves a unique exploration for acquiring new insights derived from practical outcomes, manifested in creative expressions like designs, digital media, and models. Original contributions to the field are encapsulated through these creative works. In the context of an interview-based study, thematic analysis was applied to identify problems and solutions based on collected data. Responding to parents and children's needs, a visual art app was sketched and converted into Figma for responsive prototyping. User testing, employing qualitative methods such as interviews and surveys, will provide valuable data from participants.

 3. Interview

The interview was used to collect data from ten parents who have children aged three to five. We followed a structured interview process, which is a systematic approach to interviewing during which the interviewer asks the same predetermined questions to all candidates in the same order. Questions were chosen to gain qualitative responses, with the conversations structured according to creative activities and screen time for preschool children
